Ngong Ping Village & The Tian Tan Buddha

Dare I say a must if you have a few days in Hong Kong? Yes, it’s touristy, but it’s super impressive, a pretty fun journey over the mountains on a cable car (or a hike if you’re feeling energetic, we were told it’s about 2 hours). Book ahead, and if you want to join a much shorter queue, book the crystal bottom experience and avoid weekends.

There’s a bakehouse at Tung Chung station (where you get the cable car from) if you want to pick up supplies for the day. The mall there is an outlet mall too, with loads of brands with great discounts if you’re in the mood for shopping.

There’s a beautiful monestry in Nygong village, as well as a number of shops and restaurants.
